How's it going my chums? I hope well. Today was interesting, rather fun, I might add. I went to school, then went to the Flegler's house for lunch, then went back to school after playing couterstrike with Christian. I read some of the Shining, by Steven King, which is pretty good. I also hung out with Andi, and aczually still am. Oh, yeah, I watched spngebob in German, funnier, if possible, than in English. The weather today was incredible, very sunny andit got up to 17 degrees celsius. I talked to one of Chrisina's friends on the bus, actually, she talked to me because "I looked lonely". She wants to learn English, so she spoke to me in German and I responded in English. It was a mutually bi-lingual conversation. We talked about books, because she was reading, LIFE, THE UNIVERSE, AND EVRYTHING. The third book of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series, in German, of course. That was pretty cool.
Turns out I'm going to the theater tomorrow, with Andi, Teddy, Christian, Corbi, and Lorenz, whom I haven't seen since I was in seventh grade.
Well, I'm busy watching boxing with Andi (boxing is the most ungraceful thing ever).
so I'll say bye 'till tomorrow!

Actually, Brendan, I think that boxing IS graceful, unless you're watching heavyweights who tend to slug instead of weave and dance and jab, etc. (unless it's Muhammed Ali, who did all that, even though he was a heavyweight). I admit to enjoying boxing much like I imagine Mum enjoys formula 1 racing--something rather unexpected about each of us, that somehow adds to our appreciation of it. So, you've found someone else who is reading Adams! Has she also read the other books? Is she at all interested in seeing them in English? And by the way, where have you gotten a hold of The Shining? I thought you had managed to avoid Stephen King entirely since you didn't get into his writing in middle school....Also, haven't you seen Lorenz in the two weeks you've been there, or do you mean to imply that now (meaning during the last two weeks) is the first time you've seen him since 7th grade? How has he changed? Cal is really sick, and missed main lesson again today (that's three now), but on the other hand, Drew has been to school every day this week, so far!!! Aidan has no school tomorrow, so Karen is taking him swimming. There's a coffeehouse here tomorrow night and a middle school dance. I'm going to help with the set-up, but I think I'll go home before the event actually begins. Mairead is missing me (and I'm not on a different continent!).
Take care, and remember, it's great that you're understanding a lot of German, but we do want you to be able to speak it as well, which won't happen if you keep speaking to people in English!
Love,
Mom
From Mairead:
Just in case you didn't know, I love monkeys! And I hate boxing! I think it's a stupid sport because somebody is going to end up getting hurt--either me or the other person. If it's me, then it's bad because I'm hurt, and if it's the other person, then I feel bad because I hurt somebody else.
Read my comment on the previous blog.
Love,
Mairead
Hi, Brendan,
Glad to hear that things are looking up. It's supposed to snow about 18 inches tonight, and I have to work tomorrow. Have a good St. Patrick's Day.
