Hey folks, I'm back in Germany after 12 days in the Czech Republic... sweet. The trip was really fun, though the food was reeeeaaaalllly bad. We stayed in a youth Hostel, and that was cool. I was in a room with Christoph, Christian, Johannes, Jan Peters, Jan David, (the name JAN is pronounced Yan)Tobias, and Yannick. They weer really cool roomies, and we had a great time. I got to know the class much better, and they're all really nice people. I also did a lot of work, after two months with no work it actually felt good to be doing something that required thinking (that didn't involve learning German. Every night I played either volleyball or soccer for at least an hour, and got pretty good at volleyball, and better at soccer. Though in comparison to some people in my class here even Jasper looks terrible. Some of the guys have made it their mission to make me an incredible soccer player before I go, though I think we're only gonna get to the 'better than most Americans' stage. Christian lost his cell phone ('handi' is cell phone in German slang) and that sucks, but whatever.
In other news, it looks like I'm going to be in Oman (somewhere in the Mid-East, I think) from the end of May to sometime in June to visit my Mother's brother and his family, that should be a lot of fun.
well, ta!
Brendan, he who is becoming well-traveled

It sounds like you had a great time in the Czech Republic, Brendan. Where, exactly, were you so I can look it up on the map? Since you were doing surveying, I expect you ought to be able to tell me... I love looking at maps and I encourage you to do so in order to understand, geographically, where you'll be going when you visit your uncle. Talk to Christian about whether he would like to go with you to Scotland and then to the U.S., either D.C. or Vermont, in August. In the meantime, I need to get on to the people at the NIH about our visit in August. By the way, we were notified that there is, indeed, a space for Aidan (and of course for Mairead) at the camp that Parker and Maggie are going to in Massachusetts in July. So, we're applying, and hopefully, both of them will be off at camp for two weeks starting July 22! Baltar scratched Susie's nose, and Aidan and Mairead are making much of her injury. Otherwise, all is well on the home front. Oh yeah. Mairead got her hair layered! She looks much older with this style!
Love,
Mom
Hey, Brendan. Yeah, some of the food truly was horribibble when I was there, which is why I lived on chicken soup. There's only so much knedlicki that one can eat. And pork. And sauce.
Anyway, we had a great weekend, weatherwise, last weekend, and it's on the drizzly side today, but at least it's not snowing anymore, knock on wood. Aidan's out with Karen celebrating a month without nose-picking by going swimming with his friend Wayne, and then going to eat Chinese at Chef Leu's.
Mom and Mairead went to a resort for a day, a very elegant place called the Castle Inn in Ludlow, and had facials and manicures and their hair colored (in Mom's case) and cut. So, Mairead got to check out the kind of place that she'll live in when she's grown up.
Anyway, miss you. The Spider Man 3 movie comes out in a week or so, so I guess I know what I'll be doing then.
Love,
Dad
