day 62

SERVUS! Wow, sixty two days in Germany.... feels like ten. Not too much happened today, I learned that my 'Unabridged Mark Twain' book lacks the Mark Twain book Pudd'n Head Wilson, therefore making it an abridged collection. I decided to take a walk when I finished the book Eragon, it was very nice. I met one of my friends during the walk, then I met Bruno, who was very happy to see me. We hung out a while, I bought him a snickers and.... yeah.

Well, it's definate that I'm going to Oman my next school break for about three weeks, and I'm very excited about that.

There's a bit of German, just to prove that I have actually learned some. FOr those of you that can read German, please let me know if I made mistakes, German grammer is very difficult for me, so I'd appreciate corrections where they're due. I've also not written my own German sentences too much... I think I speak it better than I write it.

uhhhhhhhhhh.....stuff

Well, hello there, he seemed to say. How are you all doing? I'm doing fine, today I went rock climbing with the Schlerfs and the entire time I was thinking of how proud Ben would be of me. That was really fun, but really difficult as well. I also started reading the book Eragon, and it's not bad at all. After the rock climbing we went out to eat and I had really good fish.

Overall, thinmgs are going well. I'm having a good time, though I will confess I do miss speaking to Teddy all the time.

Well, I GOODBYE FOOLISH MORTALS
Brendan, he who is both immortal and for some reason

yesterday

Sorry I forgot to write yesterday, here's what happened. I went to the beach with Nina's boyfriend Julian, he and I are becoming good friends. We went swimming, and I went sunbathing for the first time, and discovered the true meaning of being bored while getting a sunburn. We made a little fire, and also had cocktails. It was a beautiful day, 80-85 degrees and the sun was shining bright.

Well gotta go

THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Hey folks, I'm back in Germany after 12 days in the Czech Republic... sweet. The trip was really fun, though the food was reeeeaaaalllly bad. We stayed in a youth Hostel, and that was cool. I was in a room with Christoph, Christian, Johannes, Jan Peters, Jan David, (the name JAN is pronounced Yan)Tobias, and Yannick. They weer really cool roomies, and we had a great time. I got to know the class much better, and they're all really nice people. I also did a lot of work, after two months with no work it actually felt good to be doing something that required thinking (that didn't involve learning German. Every night I played either volleyball or soccer for at least an hour, and got pretty good at volleyball, and better at soccer. Though in comparison to some people in my class here even Jasper looks terrible. Some of the guys have made it their mission to make me an incredible soccer player before I go, though I think we're only gonna get to the 'better than most Americans' stage. Christian lost his cell phone ('handi' is cell phone in German slang) and that sucks, but whatever.

In other news, it looks like I'm going to be in Oman (somewhere in the Mid-East, I think) from the end of May to sometime in June to visit my Mother's brother and his family, that should be a lot of fun.

well, ta!

Going to the Czech Republic

So, this will be my last post for about two weeks because tomorrow I'm going to the Czech Republic with my class. I dont' expect that I'll have access to a computer, at least not on a regular basis. If I do get a chance, I'll post, but don't expect it. We get back on April 27th, so everybody stay cool, and I'll write to you later.

day 46

Well, it's the 46th day of Germany, and therefore the 53rd day of my trip. Well, Today I did a lot of hard physical work because I'm helping to build a camp. That meant that I had to move a lot of wood, do a lot of digging, and eat a sandwhich. That was really all I did, I got along well with the other people working there, and they seemed to understand what I was saying, I certainly understood what they were saying.

Yes Mother, I have been finding it a little strange that your posts go under my name, but I figured it out quickly enough to not be terribly confused.

Well, have a nice day folks, please post, it's nice to hear from folk.

blog

Because my Mother dislikes reading white on blck, but seems content with black on white, and asked me to change the colors of my blog, I have done so. So enjoy the pain and horribly unnatural new colors of my blog.

day 45

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I just forgot one day and couldn't be bothered the next. Today I hung out with Micheal, the Schlerf's nephew and played Magic with him and won every game, which was fun. We also played PS2 together, and basically talked and got along well. Later in the day I got a headache and slept for about five hours to get rid of it.

Well, tha's all folks

day 42

Today I went to Nurnberg and went shopping, but not the fun kind of shopping with books or magic cards, but womanly shopping. You see, Andi has gone for the week to some camp thing and Herr Schlerf was at work. So I went to every clothes store in Nurnberg, every jewelry store, masses of shoe stores, and, of course, many stores devoted to lotions and perfumes. This endless quest of pointless shopping drve me to the brink of insanity. Then Herr Schlerf, having finished work joined us and took me to a book store, where he baught me the Douglas Adam book THE LONG DARK TEA-TIME OF THE SOUL.

Well, that's about it... so bye.
Brendan, he who will never go shopping when the majority of the people he's with are women

day 41

Hey, so, from where I left off...
I went part way to the airport with Teddy, and was dropped off before he got there. I then, with the Schlerfs, went to a beach, and afterwards a castle. It was fun I guess. Then we got back and I spent a lot of time listening to Eddie Izzard, who is an incredible comidian. Now I'm watching a movie in German, no subtitles, and I can get what's going on, though I do prefer movies with subtitles.

Well, 'till later
Brendan

Easter part 2

Well, let's see...

I went to Teddy's on his last day here, we packed and talked and did a lot of things, it was very nice. We also went to a fair in Nurnberg, which was pretty chill and won little toy flowers. Yeah.... we mainly talked, I mean while we did other things we talked, we were talking the whole time. I got there at 10:15 in the morning and Teddy and I were up talking until 4:00 in the morning, really wonderful little chats.

We also talked to Christian about what we're going to have him do in Vermont, which was cool. Later Corbinian asked me what he should title his report about Vermont, and I suggested VERMONT, THE LAND OF MAPLE SYRUP, and he liked it and used it, all in all a really wonderful day.

See my folks and friends in Vermont in august!

EASTER part 1 is an apology.

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!! (and to those of you reading this who are not christians... go buy candy and eat a lot of it, that way you can have your own Easter without the religion part)

day 38

I'm tired, so I'll make this quick. Today I finished reading Dune Messiah. I wanted to eat, but I was fasting (good friday) so I didn't. I also spent a couple hours working on translating an Asterix and Obelix comic, and I did some practice SATs.

Well, I'm going fishing tomorrow!
Brendan

day 37

Today I went to Weissenburg, which is a little town about 15 km away, it was nice though. Then nothing much happened until dinner, when I ate, had several conversations in German, and was given a micky mouse comic book in German to read, which is cool because I can actually understand what I'm reading.

Oh yeah, I made lunch for everyone today, I made them those things I made for us at home a while ago, the egg-toast derived from V for Vendetta. They all liked it very much, and that was nice.

Well... not much else
Long Live Paul Maud'dib!!

day 36

Today was cool, I got my hair cut, for free, and it's actually pretty good. It's six millimeters long. Bruno came over and cut it as promised. Then I went into Heideck with Julian, Bruno, and Nina. I taught Bruno and Julian our snap-pound it high fives from Vermont, and that was cool. We watched Fightclub, half in German with English subtitles and half in English with German subtitles. I got to hang out with the Heideck gangsters, or the people as close to gangsters as Heideck has.
I told the Schlerfs I'd make them dinner tomorrow, that should be fun.

Uhh. Cal, could you change your name? Puffinfucker is making my Mom angry.

Well, that's all for tonight,
Brendan

day 35

Hi,

Today I woke up at about 1:00, watched Harry Potter in German, and then went with Nina and her boyfriend to her boyfriend's friend's place. He lives in a hotel. We played X-box for about four or five hours, the only game I did well at was Halo (yeah, creepy, I did well in Halo and beat them all...). One of Julian's friends said he'd give me a free haircut, so I'm taking him up on that.

Well, that's about all, and don't worry Mom, I have plans to go to church on Easter.

Cheerio!
Brendan

day 34

Not to much happened today, I watched Kingdom of Heaven and Troy in German with English subtitles, I read a little, but I mainly played with Lara and Philip, the Neighbor's kids. We played soccer and jumped on the trampoline.

I also called the school today during lunchtime, and had short chats with many people, which was nice.

Well, that's about it... oh yeah, Mom, this is a reminder that you said you'd recharge my card on Easter, I'll need more than just 100 minutes, as each of my conversations with my family is much longer than I intend, and I must comunicate with friends also.

See ya
Brendan

day 33

Hey people
Today was very interesting. I was taught how to rollerblade and how to skateboard, though I was much better at the rollerblading. We had a barbeque today, which reminded me strongly of my Dad and his love for burning stuff on a grill. The meat in Germany far surpasses the meat in America, and the bread.
Soooooo, yeah... I spent my day rollerblading, falling down, and getting very uncomfortable by running into bushes head-on at a fast speed. I was cool though. Tonight, on my request, the Schlerfs are renting Serenity, which is and incredible movie and if you haven't seen it see it.

Sorry I didn't post yestereday, but I wrote my post on the laptop, and just before I hit the publish button it ran out of battery.

Hey Mister Hatfield! Nice to hear from you. Na, I didn't really get that math stuff, I only have one math class a week, so I'm a bit lost. Things are going well, and it's nice to hear from familiar folk. So thanks for posting.
